Privacy Policy

Overview

RouteDrop is a privacy-focused iOS application designed to export your Apple Watch workout routes as GPX files. Your privacy is our top priority, and we are committed to protecting your personal information.

Data Collection

RouteDrop does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to external servers.

We do not use analytics services, advertising networks, crash reporting tools, or any third-party tracking software. The app operates entirely locally on your device.

HealthKit Data Access

RouteDrop requests permission to read specific health data from Apple Health (HealthKit):

  • Workout Data: Activity type, date, start time, end time, duration, and distance
  • GPS Route Data: Location coordinates (latitude, longitude, altitude) and timestamps from outdoor workouts

What RouteDrop does NOT access:

  • Heart rate data
  • Health metrics beyond workout and route information
  • Personally identifiable information

Important: RouteDrop only reads health data and never writes to HealthKit. The app cannot modify or add any health information.

How We Use Your Data

Health data accessed by RouteDrop is used exclusively for the following purposes:

  • Display your workout list with basic information
  • Show workout routes on an interactive map
  • Calculate and display workout statistics
  • Generate GPX files when you explicitly tap the "Export GPX" button

Your workout data is only processed when you actively use the app. It is never transmitted to RouteDrop servers or any third-party services.

Data Storage

RouteDrop creates temporary GPX files in your device's local storage only when you initiate an export. These files are:

  • Stored temporarily in the app's sandbox directory
  • Automatically deleted after sharing or when you close the app
  • Never uploaded to external servers

RouteDrop does not maintain any persistent database of your workout information beyond what is already stored in Apple Health.

Data Transmission

RouteDrop does not transmit any data over the internet.

The app:

  • Has no backend servers
  • Makes no network requests
  • Does not upload workout or route data anywhere

Reverse Geocoding: RouteDrop uses Apple's CoreLocation framework to convert GPS coordinates into place names (e.g., "San Francisco, CA"). This process is handled locally by iOS and does not send data to RouteDrop servers.

Third-Party Services

RouteDrop does not use any third-party services, SDKs, or frameworks beyond Apple's native iOS frameworks.

We do not integrate:

  • Analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase)
  • Crash reporting services (e.g., Crashlytics, Sentry)
  • Advertising networks
  • Social media SDKs
  • Cloud storage or sync services

User Control Over Data

You have complete control over your data:

  • Sharing: When you export a GPX file, you decide where to send it using the iOS share sheet (AirDrop, Messages, Email, Files app, etc.)
  • Permissions: You can revoke RouteDrop's access to your Health data at any time by going to Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → RouteDrop
  • Deletion: Deleting the app removes all local data immediately

Children's Privacy

RouteDrop does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app requires access to Apple Health data, which is managed by the user or their parent/guardian through iOS permissions.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of RouteDrop after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
